As you know i grew up in Blighty and therefore have the compulsory fascination with James Bond. I guess every English schoolboy grows up watching 007 and dreams of having more than his fair share of cool intelligence, lethal aggression, sexual magnetism and badass gadgets. Especially ones you have to assemble, with each piece making a satisfying click as it joins the last.
So I was amused to find this; while surfing t'web I was checking out TAD Gear when i stumbled across this ...err... toy?
I'm far from convinced that it would have any value afield, but it does look like a lot of fun. Made by father and son knife makers Pat & Wes Crawford it comes in 9 parts that can be changed around to make: A hiking staff, a walking stick ( no, i don't know what the difference is either) a baton, a blow gun (I can hear the 007 music now) a knife, and a lance.
Even at a STEEP $259.89 they've apparently sold out of them! Have a look.
For those of you of a more literary bent, here's all the ammo you need to sneer at us overgrown school boys, seduced Fleming's world of 'gadgets, sex, snobbery and sadism'.
More soon as
Your pal

I'm not sure, although I think using poisons to hunt is illegal most places. Without them i don't see it being effective on anything larger than a blue bottle.
Easy to make and fun to play with though, I'll get Q to make a couple up and I'll let you know ;-)
for $259 I want a couple of free tickets to my local lap dancing club & several free Martinis....shaken not stirred! thrown in for good measure :)
Merry xmas & and thanks for the heads up on a priceless piece of equipment.
I know a guy that did something similar (except for the blowgun) with sections of PVC pipe and an actual wood stave. His had sections for survival gear, a fishing kit, and a knife. Not nearly as pretty though.
Cool gear.
Pike Fly

I think it'd be a lot more fun to make one out of PVC pipe, and spend the remaining $250 on.......? Well the list is endless isn't it!

My dad had a buddy of his who was deadly with a 5' blowgun. It packed plenty of punch for small game, squirrels, rabbits, quail, etc. You'd need a little curare for bigger game, but it was scary effective.

Cool
what weight were the darts?
Al the ones i've ever had a go with were too light to do anything but annoy without a poison
Can you tell us any more?

Wish I could tell you more, but it was all magic to me at the time. The details and fine points were lost on this amazed young man back in those days, but I expect a little diligent web research could turn them up easily enough.
