Golden Eagle Snatches Knife

From the "whodathunkit" files: Dutch wildlife photographer Han Bouwmeester had been cutting up some meat hoping to bait a Golden Eagle into snapping range when the bird swooped and snatched up his Mora 510 and made off with it. At less than a tenner for the knife, a small price to pay for the shot of a lifetime!

The Daily Fail quote him as reporting
'I was happy with the absolutely cracking and unique picture. The eagle is holding it exactly as we should do with it. What a crazy once in a lifetime moment this was.'

Come on. A Dutch guy said “absolutely cracking”? I find that hard to believe.

Damn cool picture though.

I was flipping through a Canadian Geographic yesterday and saw this “absolutely cracking” photo:

Taken by a Mr. Scott Linstead.

Are you suggesting that britain's worst newspaper is less than completely factual? Well I never! Is nothing sacred? shocking!

Somewhere out there is an eagle with a knife. Wait until they figure out firearms.

That's a pretty awesome catch.

I think he will use that knife to slice his meat.

LOL

What a very cool picture! Is that a trick of the light or is there a band around its right leg? Is there an eagle-banding program somewhere?

I'm with Chas on being a little uneasy about a golden eagle on the loose with a knife.

yes it does look as though there's a band, birds of prey are protected and monitored in mot of europe.

I've heard of running with scissors, but flying with a knife?
