A tubby suburban dad watching hunting and adventure shows on TV and wondering could I do that? This is the chronicle of my adventures as I learn to learn to Forage, Hunt and Fish for food that has lived as I would wish to myself - Wild and Free.

Please feel free to leave comments. I really enjoy hearing what readers think. The rules are the same as round my dinner table:
You're welcome to disagree, life would be way too boring if we all agreed with each other and we'd never learn anything.
I like to think that we're all grown up enough to argue every last point, right down to the bone, without bearing a grudge afterwards.
Come on in the waters lovely

Looks like a red current to me. You will soon know when you taste one!
ReplyDeleteI would guess Highbush cranberry (Viburnum trilobum) http://plants.usda.gov/plantguide/pdf/cs_viopa2.pdf
ReplyDeleteWell dear sir, the internet does wonders, but how much of it can you really trust?
ReplyDeleteAny way I was looking at the leaves and a website stated the following: "The edges of the leaf can be smooth or have rounded bumps, huge lobes or toothed edges. Currants have lobed leaves with toothed edges."
Here is a picture, small but one, to compare for the website.

I think it is a highbush cranberry. I'm not familiar with currants but we have lots of highbush cranberries in manitoba and they look like this.
ReplyDeleteTry one, and if you are posting again tomorrow, then we'll know it's edible...

I'm joking - don't try one 'til you are certain.
So... what is it?
