Oetzi: Putting A Face To The Name

Twenty years after his ice preserved body was found the 5,000-year-old "Iceman" discovered on the border between Italy and Austria we can now see Dutch artist Adrie Kennis' impression of what Oetzi would have looked like.

  1. GREAT idea for a post! That Wikipedia page on Öetzi you linked to is the first one in a long time that I actually wanted to read from beginning to end. Fascinating stuff right there. Thanks for posting this!

  2. Good one. The iceman was in my opinion an important find considering the items found with the body.

Glad you liked it - he's the nearest thing Europe has to an "Ishi" I'm totally fascinated by him myself.

So important, his body and his EDC are such an amazing window back into our past. What would someone make of finding my body and the bits and pieces in my pockets? Then again if they found the stuff in your pockets that would throw them completely!

  5. Wow! That's amazing how they can recreate faces like that... and kinda creepy too!

Fascinating fellow though! Great topic once again SBW!

Please feel free to leave comments. I really enjoy hearing what readers think. The rules are the same as round my dinner table:

You're welcome to disagree, life would be way too boring if we all agreed with each other and we'd never learn anything.
I like to think that we're all grown up enough to argue every last point, right down to the bone, without bearing a grudge afterwards.

Come on in the waters lovely
