A tubby suburban dad watching hunting and adventure shows
on TV and wondering could I do that?
This is the chronicle of my adventures as I learn to learn to Forage,
Hunt and Fish for food that has lived as I would wish to myself -
Wild and Free.
When you look at the old photos of cowboys, animals etc killed by arrows they have loads stuck in em, it makes mae laugh when on the goggle box a guy gets shot with one arrow and falls down dead.
So true when bowhunting was pure subsistence hunting why would you take the risk? And at war it would take quite a few arrows to bring down a French knight and his war horse. 'They don't like it up em captain mainwaring'
Best thing about traditional archery is that you don't spend too much time worrying about that kind of thing. Just know it happens and call it good. Pretty amazing though, how far the aboriginals advanced archery (and spear chucking) without the benefit of high-speed cameras and composite fibers, huh?
Oh, I'm a mind-reader. Just ask my wife... although, I'm sensing something... yes... I'm... I'm sensing that she will laugh hysterically, maniacally, even, at the notion.
By the way, I keep coming back to watch that video. I can't seem to get enough of it.
Please feel free to leave comments. I really enjoy hearing what readers think. The rules are the same as round my dinner table:
You're welcome to disagree, life would be way too boring if we all agreed with each other and we'd never learn anything. I like to think that we're all grown up enough to argue every last point, right down to the bone, without bearing a grudge afterwards.
woah.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost like it's made of wax ;p
Blimey! I never realised arrows flexed so much.
