  4. I've had several of Charlie May's knives. Pricey, but every bit as good as they look. I eventually settled on the Bladie Mae as my main hunter.

And yes, the financial climate doth suck. Mine were bartered for on the secondary market. Couldn't afford them otherwise...

I've been a fan for a while, he seems to have some rep over here, but US knifemakers also have a reputation for not wanting to ship 'overseas' so few people have laid hands on them.

His knives only seem expensive until you compare them to what else is available. People do pay the same sort of money for knives that you or I could make at home. Madness.

Did you have a look at Stuart Mitchell's work?
His websites is sadly far from representative of his output - do a search on British Blades.

I'm glad you're here to bring a much needed touch of sanity to proceedings.

    Mora $10
    F1 $100

I've tried but I've not worn either out.

Please feel free to leave comments. I really enjoy hearing what readers think. The rules are the same as round my dinner table:

You're welcome to disagree, life would be way too boring if we all agreed with each other and we'd never learn anything.
I like to think that we're all grown up enough to argue every last point, right down to the bone, without bearing a grudge afterwards.

Come on in the waters lovely
