I want One - A Not So Occasional Series Pt10

This time it's a boat! And what a boat. The Alpacka Raft is a fantastic idea, a boat that you can backpack with.
The boats weigh only 3.1 to 5.5 lbs. (1.5 to 2.5 kg) each, plus paddles and bits and pieces. I was rather taken with their 'Moose boat' the Fjord Explorer not the smallest of their output but big enough to take a friend, or transport that moose you've invited to dinner!

Beats taking the lift (elevator)

I doubt my (or your) weekend will be this exiting, but here's a-hopein' an a dreamin'

  1. Nice. I guess the boats pack down small and inflate w/a mini compressor? Haven't checked the link...

You could use 'em as a danger glissade platform in the snow.

    Cheers.

  2. These are pricey, but would be great to have for fishing those very remote ponds here in the White Mountains that have perhaps never seen any kind of boat. Good find.

Yeah way pricey. Although i found one site where they were reviewed against another mini boat that was about half the price, the reviewer reckoned these were well worth the extra. There's a Youtube of the guys mending one that had been mauled by a bear, it looked knackered but they get it fixed and floating with a field repair kit. i was impressed.
I'll get one eventually and a full review having carted it up to those remote ponds.
    Hope you're well

  4. I've ridden one of said boats and once you get past the small size you've seen their best feature.

On the same topic- check out "SOAR" inflatables- the Pro Pioneer is the THE AK inflatable float hunting machine...

Please feel free to leave comments. I really enjoy hearing what readers think. The rules are the same as round my dinner table:

You're welcome to disagree, life would be way too boring if we all agreed with each other and we'd never learn anything.
I like to think that we're all grown up enough to argue every last point, right down to the bone, without bearing a grudge afterwards.

Come on in the waters lovely
