Happy Blog Day Nor Cal Cazadora!

Norcal Casadora - She’s another late convert to hunting and wild food and I’ve always felt an affinity with the trails and tribulations of her journey from foodie to cazadora (huntress). I remember when she only had a couple of posts up and I’ve really enjoyed watching her blog and its reputation grow. Her writing and analysis are both first rate. This is how the professionals do it. Where most bloggers do something else for a living she is a professional word smith, teaches writing, and frankly it shows. My prediction for the next year is that she’ll be asked to take over the Field and Stream huntress blog.

Happy Blog Day To You NorCal!!

  1. Don't pick on Kimberly Hiss!!!! She does a great job. I'll definitely check out Norcal Casadora though. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I'm not picking on anyone, but i'm also not hiding my disapointment with the way F&S fails so miserably to reach its worldwide audience. I'm a huge fan of the brand, but a frustated fan.

I look forward to reading your blog

  3. I love Holly's blog and the passion she brings to her subject. She's a terrific writer and a great supporter and booster of women who hunt.

  4. OMG, I totally forgot yesterday was my anniversary! What a dope. I blame the election - lots going on here yesterday.

    So, er, belatedly, THANKS!

And Sten, thanks for being one of my very first supporters. I remember some of the advice, goals and predictions you shared in some emails way back when, and you were dead-on.

Of course, that's not to say I'm out to depose Kim Hiss at F&S. I absolutely love what I'm doing, and as someone who spent 19 years writing and editing for other people, I know you sacrifice complete freedom of expression when you work for someone else.

But I truly appreciate the sentiment. I may have said this before, and I'll probably say it in the post I now realize I need to do on my blog, but I've gotten more pleasure out of a year of blogging and interacting with readers than I did in 19 years in the newspaper business.

The thing i like best is the way she manages to provoke such a high standard of comment, and then to turn the comments into a conversation.

  6. Aw shucks! I feel lucky, because I've seen comment threads on some blogs where people can get downright nasty!

I've deleted only one blog comment from my blog, and that was because it linked to a blog that struck me as suspicious because of its popups. People have been civil and thoughtful all on their own.

And thanks again for the reminder, Sten. I've belatedly posted about the anniversary now :-)

I'll let you into a little secret,
I'd forgotten too. But I'd set the post up a while ago and when I logged on it had published itself!

Please feel free to leave comments. I really enjoy hearing what readers think. The rules are the same as round my dinner table:

You're welcome to disagree, life would be way too boring if we all agreed with each other and we'd never learn anything.
I like to think that we're all grown up enough to argue every last point, right down to the bone, without bearing a grudge afterwards.

Come on in the waters lovely
